Out came the old interior....
Out came the head-liner and the rusty spots were treated and sprayed with red-oxide.
In went new carpet, and the rear seats were fitted back in.
#The trunk lid was sprayed, this was the last bit of spraying done by myself as circumstances changed and I decided that I would eventually take the car to be properly re-sprayed.
Well shes now gone off to:
...... where she'll be bare-metalled and resprayed, I decided to replace the rear tail light panel and trunk lid....all that work for nothing...ohh well it'll be worth it.
While the Mustangs been in the bodyshop it's given me time to do some of those small bits like stripping and cleaning the seat belts.
I decided the silver I'd used for the fog lamps / bars and coral was too shiny so back to bare metal, primed again, and repainted using Ford moondust silver..... Much nicer!!!!
One of the bars was in a bad shape and needed some serious repair work!
Having seen the result of the fog lamps etc, again the silver of the rear lights was too shiny, so these were rubbed down, primered and painted with Steel Wheel paint!
The pillar pads were looking very tired so these were carefully cleaned up and vinyl dyed.
My own backup lamp conversion using an orange bulb and a small halogen bulp / holder to give both indicator and backup lamp in one housing! Maybe I should patent my design ;-)
One of the biggest jobs for MAG American was to replace the extremely rusty cowl inlets with new weld-in patches.
The usual rust had to be located, cut away and new metal welded in.
The car initially in primer.
The car and accessories in primer.
All the shuts are painted blue as is the underside of the trunk lid, the fuel tank has come out to enable it and the trunk to be painted.
Ready for the final rubbing down prior to spraying!
Painted, starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel now!!!
All the interior panels waiting to be painted.
Starting to get back into the swing of fitting everything up.
All the accessories painted and ready to be fitted back onto the car.
